What could be more difficult than racing an extreme enduro ? Racing an extreme enduro in the dark ! Despite some self-inflicted light malfunctions , DRT Husqvarna ’ s Ryder LeBlond took the win at Round 3 of the 2021 SEER series presented by Pandora ’ s , the second annual showing of the Nightmare Extreme Enduro . Taking place at Hale Mountain OHV Park in New Market , Alabama , a location with 400 acres of trail for all types of off-highway vehicles , riders were given a new challenge by completing part of the course in complete darkness .
The three-hour race started at 6pm CST , with complete darkness taking over the woods by 8pm . SEER track director , Derek Bratcher , reversed the direction of the course used last year as the inaugural round , adding in a few more challenges along the way , lovingly called Timo ’ s Hole and Nightmare Creek . The race followed SEER ’ s standard format with multiple checkpoints , and several splits where the top classes , Gold and Silver , take a more difficult route than the lower classes , Bronze and Iron .
Conditions remained dry , and the majority of the 80 riders in attendance were able to make several laps to the delight of organizers .
