Over the past few weeks , winter has finally begun to sink in . Snow falling , temperatures dropping , and the number of layers of clothing needed to endure the outside ever increasing . For many , especially in the northern states , this means performing much-needed maintenance on their machine after a solid year of racing and riding ; ordering parts , draining and replacing fluids , and finding space in the garage to store the bike until spring . But for the rest of the
community , there is no off-season , especially when the winter season lasts for six months at a time .
Enter the Square Deal Riders Motorcycle Club ( SDR ) of New York . Aside from hosting enduros , hare scrambles , and adventure rides , the club is a regular stop for the AMA Vintage Flat Track National Championship Series . Since 1971 , SDR has also organized several rounds of mini-hare-scrambles aptly coined the “ Winter Series .” Scoring is done via transponders , similar to the NYOA races , and handled by the talented folks at CGR Scoring .
