TEEN CAMP
Brad Baumert had said that he wasn ' t going to continue leading the annual Teen Camp following the Youth National ; he ' s trying to take a step back .
Myself , Josh Roper , and Nigel Parker , we ’ ve been trying to take all the programs that Brad and Ryan Young have put in place throughout the years upon ourselves to help keep them going . It was a bit stressful being in charge of 17 kids ; it ' s a lot of responsibility and I was super nervous . I ’ m not computer-savvy at all , so all the emails trying to organize it and get everything together was probably the hardest part for me . The hardest part would have been the cooking , but luckily we were able to recruit some amazing moms to help : Stephanie Stewart ( Sawyer ’ s mom ), Yolanda Fastle ( Sam ’ s mom ), Michele Myers ( Alex and Will ’ s mom ), and Jennifer Kliza ( mom to Titus , Nehemia , and Gabriel ). They ended up doing an amazing job helping to keep the kids fed , which gave me an opportunity to focus on structuring the training sessions for the kids .
I ' m super happy with how things went ; we had three-and-a-half days of riding at TTC after the Youth Nationals , and the kids loved it . We only had two hospital visits , unfortunately they were both pro riders . You know , you ’ d think with all we do , we ' d be a little smarter
