Here again , the family excels as the grass track motocross and crosscountry courses are epic , and the farm-grown grass-fed beef used in the family ’ s concession stand cheeseburgers is equally epic ! Hint … try the “ Uncle Brian ”. Some look forward to the event so much that rumor has it that there was a tongue-in-cheek underground movement amongst a few Mid- Atlantic folks to expand the Ashcraft experience into a full-blown weeklong festival of vintage dirt biking ( AshStock ?). While the week-long adventure may not have happened ( yet …), the weekend packed in plenty of action .
Motocross , hosted by Ed Roman and Merritt Brown of the NE region , kicked off the weekend ’ s events Saturday . Once again , the action took place in the familiar grass field and points were contributing to both the NE and MA motocross championships . A few changes were incorporated into this year ’ s grass track in an effort to keep things fresh and exciting . In general , the course was run in reverse from the previous years although the course was slightly reconfigured to keep traffic flowing in the same direction through the popular mini gravity cavity . Unfortunately , as experienced earlier in the season , practice was delayed as the sign-up crew again experienced significant growing pains with the scoring software adopted by the MA crew
