In addition to being a rider for Rieju USA in the hard enduro scene , competing in both the Kenda AMA Extreme Championship and the South East Extreme Riders series , Ohio-native Quinn Wentzel is also an ambassador for Electric Motion USA , a brand focused on promoting electric trial and trail bikes .
Recently , in-between enduro competitions , Quinn was able to take his 2021 Electric Motion ePure RACE model for a spin at Rounds 3 and 4 of the AMA NATC Mototrials National Championship , hosted at Wildwood Lake Raceway in Little Hocking , Ohio .
Electric Motion USA had a chance to chat with Quinn about the bike and his experience riding the Expert class .
ELECTRIC MOTION : TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOUR BACKGROUND AND WHAT YOU ' RE DOING WITH ELECTRIC MOTION .
QUINN WENTZEL : My name is Quinn Wentzel ; I ' m from Canfield , Ohio . I have a background in motocross . I rode trials for a long time , and even rode a couple years in the Pro class , and then transitioned full-time into hard enduro . A couple years later , I made a return to the National Trials for Electric Motion .
I ' m doing three rounds this year to see how it goes , have fun , and promote the brand .
As far as I know , we ' re kind of the first electric brand to compete at this high of a level at the Nationals , at least in the US . I think a couple people might have ridden a Clubman line on another electric bike , but nothing really crazy . So we ' re out here getting our feet wet and proving that the bike can contend in the Expert class , which is one line below the Pro class , which is pretty cool .
EM : HOW WAS THE EXPERIENCE ON THE BIKE TODAY ?
QW : The bike was awesome today . I cleaned almost every section except for one . The batteries were good ; it had plenty of power for the whole loop . As far as the mechanics and the power goes , it has plenty of power for the Expert line and feels like a pretty normal bike .
The suspension and the chassis and everything works really good , so I ' m pumped with the bike .
