three were able to overcome quickly and easily . Blazusiak needed a second run but was able to reach the top and continue in quick order before the bottlenecks began to form . Keeping a fierce battle throughout the race , Bolt and Lettenbichler were practically banging bars as they pulled into the service point . Riders had to weigh the option of whether to take fuel ; some such as Lettenbichler and Jarvis , decided to take their chances and forego the top-off and save some time . This served Jarvis well , as he was able to overtake fifth position ( from a ninth-place start ) over Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing teammate Alfredo Gomez .
Bolt stopped to refuel at the service point , and unfortunately struggled through Michele ’ s Minestrone , a rock garden reminiscent of Erzbergrodeo ’ s infamous Carl ’ s Diner . Although Bolt lost some time to Lettenbicher , he was able to make a strategic pass in the river section and would keep the lead over the KTM rider for the rest of the race , earning 20 valuable FIM Hard Enduro World Championship points .
