The throat chakra is located at the neck/throat and is thus related to communication and creativity. It is given the color turquoise and is the element space.

This chakra represents our ability to communicate, speak clearly and appropriately and to say the right things at the right times. Therefore, someone with a balanced throat chakra would be considerate and thoughtful in communication and are aware of how what they say affects others.

A disturbance in this chakra will manifest itself as fear or hesitation to communicate, repressed communication, incessant talking and speaking too rapidly. Low self-esteem or arrogance, self-image fears, indecisiveness, oversensitivity to criticism, feeling abandoned or rejected, nervousness, difficulty controlling emotions and addictive behaviors including eating disorders can all be signs of a throat chakra imbalance.

Positive affirmations to help balance the throat chakra are:

"I willingly release all fears and negativity that block me from speaking my truth."

"I lovingly speak my truth and allow my Higher Self to speak through me. I use my words to create beauty in this world."

Does your life reflect the fullness of who you are? Are you speaking your truth and saying the things that really need to be said? Are you hearing others' truths? Are they hearing yours? Are you fully exercising the divine spark of creativity that lives in you?

If any of this resonates with you, it might be helpful to learn some ways to open and balance your throat chakra, whose Sanskrit name means "Purifier," is the gateway to the chakras devoted to spirituality.

The throat chakra supports us in expressing the fullness of who we are--our fullest, most sacred truth. As I see it, recognizing and communicating our truths purifies us in preparation for further spiritual evolution. And our 5th chakra allows us to bring our personal essence into the physical world, expressing our unique perspective on universal truth and divine intelligence. It allows us to create--and in doing so, to activate and express our divine nature.

I would love for you to share your thoughts about this with me. Write me at [email protected], I'm listening.
