ASKED & ANSWERED

In this issue, we asked our practitioners...

"How do you manage/balance your emotions?"

It is so vital to feel your emotions and process them just as you would food. When something comes up for me, like anxiety, I ask myself first "what is the source of this? what am I worried about? what is REALLY on my mind" I take a deep breath and sit with it for a minute. Many times I journal to process them. Seeing them on paper often brings clarity. When I cannot release the stress myself, I get bodywork, such as Jin Shin Do which is an acupressure technique that releases the blocks of the mind and body at the same time. This is the therapy I have recently been trained to do and it brings about true consciousness and empowerment by releasing deep emotional blocks in a relaxing and comforting way.

Here is a recipe for a warm or cold smoothie for breakfast or a dessert/snack that includes foods to help me balance my Sacral Chakra:

Pumpkin Orange Pie Smoothie

Place 1/4 cup of whole oats (or cooked, whole grain brown rice) in a blender and cover with hot or cold water; let sit for 5 minutes. Add 1/3 cup of canned pure pumpkin, 1 small orange, and 1 1/2 teaspoons coconut flakes. Add 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, 2 dashes of nutmeg, 1 dash of ground cloves, and either a small sliver of fresh ginger or 1/8 teaspoon of ginger. Add hot or cold water to almost cover the contents in the blender (add more or less water as per your

thickness preference). I add raw honey if I desire more sweetness. Then blend and enjoy!
