Don't leave it too late Welcome It’s the eve of my 50th birthday at the time of writing these words and I can’t quite work out how I've had 50 laps around the sun! It's gone SO quickly! When I reflect on these years though, they have been action packed and full of incredible experiences. Thinking back through my 50 laps, I know of one particular event that changed my world and my way of thinking. I was 17 years old and involved in a nasty truck accident on Walcha mountain. We were transporting bales of hay to the farm when the load shifted and the truck overturned as we approached a steep bend. I flew through the windscreen just as the truck hit the ground and slammed into a white steel post, attached to the security fence. I was pretty knocked around with broken ribs etc but was so very 12 The basis of traditional Mediterranean eating lucky on the other hand. That security fence held the truck back from going over the edge of the mountain and saved our lives. I’m sure when we all think back over our years, we are conscious of the experiences and events that have changed us. It’s those times that make us become the best version of ourselves. So as I celebrate my half century very quietly with my little circle of love, I’m going to be grateful and give thanks for my incredible life, for the people in it and for the good and not so good experiences of previous years that brought me to this very moment.
