on’t just keep your craft
projects for the kids this
weekend, have fun, get arty and
express your style with our
style help!
Discovering your style can feel daunting;
especially if you feel that you don’t have
any…But we are here to make it a fun
and enjoyable experience! Below we
teach you how to discover your style (and
that doesn’t necessarily mean pulling
out clothing shots out of a magazine)...
intrigued? Continue reading.
The Visual Elements of Style
Now that we have you intrigued, it is
time to get creative and visualise your
style and how it will work in your
everyday life. The best way to start to see
what your style will look like is to create a
Style Board. This is a collection of images,
words and objects that you would like to
possess or that give you inspiration. Once
you know what the “look” of your style is
then it’s just a matter of implementing
this look into your everyday life with
what you wear, the things you surround
yourself with and the disposition with
which you wish to live this style.
Note: You may also like to start a Style
Journal where you can document your
feelings, likes and dislikes of certain things
you have experienced or tried. A documented
record of such things and emotions is a great
tool in measuring how far you have
personally developed your style and where
you may desire to improve further.
TIME TO GET 'ARTY'… the fun part
Making a Style Board is a fun and visual
method of defining your image. It is
always a good idea to update and review
your board every six months or at the
change of the season, as your style can
evolve and your situations can change. For
example you may have a work promotion

that now requires a more corporate style
image for most of your week.
There are many ways you can
physically create your Style Board and
it is up to you as to what technique or
method excites and inspires you the
most. Pinterest is a great online tool,
or for those who like to get “hands on”,
follow the steps below.
You will need
A scrap book or piece of cardboard,
marking pen and coloured markers
(optional), glue, double sided tape,
scissors, images to cut and paste.
Select images of people, fashion,
clothes, home wares, cars, and holiday
destinations that you like and you feel
would depict your style if money wasn’t
a concern. Also select objects and words
that depict your style or things you love.
Cut, paste and decorate your Style
Board/Book. Take pride as this
collage represents who and what you
aspire to be!
Make a page with the day’s date you
started your board/book and write a
comment of where you feel your image is
now and where you want it to be.
Review your board/book regularly
(at least monthly) and make notes as
to where you feel your style/image is at
each time. This will help monitor where

you need to focus and most importantly
how close you are to your “fabulous”
style and image.
Now you have a clear picture of what
you would like your style to look like, it is
now a matter of learning what suits your
body shape, skin tone and personality.
Feeling comfortable with all aspects of
your style is essential to looking stylish
and feeling confident.
We hope you have fun creating your
style board and it inspires you to inject
some colours and prints into your outfits
that you may not have thought of before.
