Last week they posted words that said ‘Speak to your children as if they are the wisest, kindest, most beautiful and magical humans on earth. For what they believe is what they’ll become.’ We need to teach our children self love especially with the social media presence in today's society. For us to teach our children self love though, we firstly need to teach ourselves! Children learn first and foremost from us so we need to practise what we preach. A child’s self love and self esteem is acquired, not inherited so there is no job more important for us as parents!  Gosh the pressure! Helping children understand the effect of their thoughts, words, actions (and reactions) is essential in building a foundation for their future wellness. When they learn how to think positive from a young age, they will have a much greater chance of leading happy, healthy, and successful lives as adults. To flourish in their own unique way, children need to have the opportunity to make decisions from a young age. Instead of just asking how their day went, ask them about the positive things that happened during their day. These specific questions help them focus on their achievements rather than disappointments. When children stay focused on thinking positive, their positive experiences will only continue to grow. Knowing that we have someone who believes in us 100% is all the backing we need to grow into honest, kind, strong, confident adults! There is no such thing as a perfect parent but just loving our babes totally and completely is a really good start!   Simone 24 How to choose the perfect sunglasses Editor Simone Evans [email protected] Photographer – Cover image Cloud Nine Photography www.cloudninephotography.net.au 26 The courage to fail 27 Guide me to the place where guilt falls away Art Director Debbie Elliott [email protected] Cover Model Will at the The Entrance Publisher Phone: 4325 3393 Debbie Elliott – Ph: 0421 026 915 Simone Evans – Ph: 0413 186 431 trading as On the Coast Publications ABN 66 765 066 257 54 Hills Street, North Gosford 2250 Imagery ingimage.com Contributors Dr Mary Ling, Sam Woods, Jordi Woods, Sarah Tolmie, Catherine Schasser, Nikki Smith, Diana Arundell, Dr Samantha Pethen, Clare Marcangelo, Lindie Nell, Nicole Saliba Printing Spotpress Pty Ltd – 9549 1111 30 Reclaiming your joy in parenting 34 Managing emotional eating 36 N is for nose 38 On the Coast happenings 4 Distribution Presstrans Pty Ltd 0411 492 809 Warranty & Indemnity ON T H E C OA S T – FA MILIES Advertisers and/or advertising agencies upon and by lodging material with the Publisher for publication or authorising or approving of the publication of any material INDEMNIFY the Publisher, its servants and agents against all liability claims or proceedings whatsoever arising from the publication and without limiting the generality of the fore-going to indemnify each of them in relation to defamation, slander of title, breach of copyright, infringement of trademarks or names of publication titles, unfair competition or trade practices, royalties or violation of rights or privacy AND WARRANT that the material compiles with all relevant laws and regulations and that its publication will not give rise to any rights against or liabilities in the Publisher, its servants or agents and in particular that nothing therein is capable of being misleading or deceptive or otherwise in breach of Part V of the Trade Practices Act 1974.
