Tree Sculpture
Do you know of anyone who could create a feature
out of the tree stump left behind at the entrance to a
local company.
The tree had to be cut down as it was becoming
dangerous. Roger Griffin of Amenity Trees and
Landscapes said “I planted the tree about 30 years
ago and found it hard to take it down but I couldn’t
leave it there as it was a danger to the public”.
If you know of anyone who is able to do this please
contact Roger on 01462 731340

Landscaping – Stotfold Road
Many people have asked why there are areas of land being dug along
Stotfold Road. We have been told by a reliable source the landscaping is
being done to balance a pond by excavation of a trench between
The Hermitage and Bleak House.
News From Etonbury Academy
Congratulations to all the swimmers involved in the East Beds/Redborne SSP

the district but did not qualify for the county as only 1 team from the partnership
could go through. The team was as follows; Kirsty Gooch, Jessie McGilley (who
both swam for SWA year 10’s won their races and helped them qualify 1st) Molly
Ma-honey, Jodie Southby, Joe Everitt, Benjamin Daniels, Alistair Lowe, Jake Smith
and Harry Wheatcroft. Our congratulations to the whole team for their OUTSTANDING achievement. This is the first time we have entered a team from the
Academy and hope to follow their future successes.

days but are hoping this has not put us too far behind schedule. We
now have water installed in the building and are waiting on new windows and doors
being fitted along with electricity.
We understand that there will be some new occupants of the Piggery at the
beginning of the summer term.
The Etonbury Gardening Club are giving the Piggery group a hand with the
rubbing down to try an move the completion of the building forward. They are due
to move into their NEW Gardening Club area in the next few weeks. We have been
given a new allotment area for which we have plans for a number of raised beds and
barked path ways.
Adjacent to this we are hoping to have a large poly tunnel in which we can grow
fruit and vegetables. In addition to this it is hoped to be able to move the young fruit
trees from another site and place in an orchard area behind the main garden area.
A fruit cage is also planned for soft fruit in the summer. It is a very ambitious plan for
the whole area which also incorporates a wild life pond and a wild flower meadow in
the planning stage.
If you would like to get involved in these projects in any way, please contact Miss
Martindale or Mrs Turgoose through the school office: Tel 01462 730391 or email:
[email protected]. You will be very welcome.

Budding Year 7 Scientists
Well done to Mr Carrington’s Year 7 scientists
for brilliant projects. Two groups have
produced some very varied projects on the
same theme. They were asked to make a
model of the Human Digestion System and
give an explanation of how the process works.
Swimming Gala - Outstanding Achivements
Well done to everyone who has successfully completed a Community challenge.
Keep the forms coming, and get involved with your Community. It’s a lot of fun and I
