Andrews Church, St Peters School, The Methodist Church and The
Scout Hut, but shows always took place in the Village Hall. Major parts of
any production are costumes and scenery. Initially costumes were begged,
borrowed or created but soon it was evident that some needed to be hired,
despite this APPLE collected a sizeable wardrobe which was housed in
various places. At one stage the group used an office in Hampden House (the
old Biggs Wall building) before moving into a purpose built shed in the garden
of one of its members. Costumes were also available to hire to local groups
and individuals.
Scenery was always made by the team and painted by the cast and crew in
the weeks leading up to the shows. Early on APPLE also bought their own
canvas backdrops for the stage at the Village Hall and repainted or utilised
existing designs to fit the show in production. Ticket prices were always
affordable and included refreshments for the interval at pantos and for many
