Last month’ s mystery object
June’ s unusual object was entitled‘ Equation of Time Table’. It was a printed paper table mounted on a piece of board and drilled with a hole at the top centre for hanging on a wall.
The description for the use of this table is: The equation of time describes the discrepancy between two kinds of solar time. These are Apparent Solar Time, which directly tracks the motion of the sun, and Mean Solar Time, which tracks a fictitious“ mean” sun with noons 24 hours apart.
