Draft Local Plan
The Draft Local Plan has now been released by Central Bedfordshire
Council and it includes proposals to create approximately 2,000
more homes in Arlesey (in addition to the 1,400+ homes already
proposed in the Arlesey Cross development).
Full details of the Draft Local Plan can be viewed at:
www.centralbedfordshire.gov.uk/planning/policy/local-plan/

The initial consultation process has now commenced and will
continue until Tuesday 29th August 2017. Central Bedfordshire
Council is holding a number of drop-in sessions for residents in areas
affected by the proposals. A drop-in session will be held between
2.00-8.00pm on Wednesday 26th July at Arlesey Village Hall.
ATC is urging residents to submit representations directly to
Central Bedfordshire Council on the Draft Local Plan. Residents may
find the attached guide to submitting general comments useful:

Local Plan – July 2017
ATC will also be holding an Extraordinary Town Council meeting
on Tuesday 15th August to discuss the council’s response to Central
Bedfordshire Council.
MUGA Pavilion redevelopment
A planning application has now been submitted for the
redevelopment of the MUGA pavilion. ATC was successful in its
grant application to The Eileen Alexander Legacy Fund, receiving
a very welcome £10,000 towards the building’s refurbishment;
which will include the provision of a kitchen and additional toilet
facilities. Further funding has been secured through Section 106
monies, and it is anticipated that the Football Foundation will also
be contributing to the project. Once planning consent has been
obtained, the Council will issue a contract for works to ‘Modplan’
who have been selected through the Council’s tender process.
Parking Enforcement
A report has been received from Central Bedfordshire Council
detailing parking enforcement for the period April-June 2017 as
follows:
• April – 15 PCNs issued
• May – 18 PCNs issued
• June – 12 PCNs issued
Pothole repair and the Velocity Patcher
The Velocity Patcher will be returning to Central Bedfordshire
between July and September to tackle reported potholes. The
machine can fix a pothole within two minutes – this video shows
how quickly it works: www.centralbedfordshire.gov.uk/transport/

ATC would urge residents to use the following link to report any
potholes that they are aware of, to ensure that these are tackled
when the Velocity Patcher visits Arlesey:

. . . Geoff Mitchell
Our very first interview in the ‘A Day in
Arlesey . . .’ series was with local man
Geoff Mitchell.
Geoff, who was 70 years old, sadly
passed away on July 2nd this year. Geoff,
an ex-teacher, was very active at St
Peter’s Church for many years as well as
starring in many local amateur pantos
and plays.
Out thoughts are with his wife Gill and
family.
Jodie Chillery’s interview with Geoff was in issue 43 from March
2016. To read the whole interview click here: Issue 43
