1st Arlesey Rainbows
This has been a busy year for the Rainbows, we have celebrated the
Diamond Jubilee, joined in with the fun of the Olympics and celebrated
Rainbows 25th birthday. Our girls have joined with Rainbows, Brownies,
Guides & Senior Section members from Henlow, Meppershall, Shillington
& Stondon (Henlow District) to celebrate World Thinking Day. We have also
joined Rainbows from the whole Division (from Great Barford, Biggleswade,
Shillington & all points between) for a Rainbows 25th birthday party. Our
girls have attended the Civic Service, Remembrance Parade, Village Carols
& Christmas Concert and taken part in the Christmas Tree Festival. They
have given service by tidying away after events. We have sent Rainbows on
to continue the adventure with Brownies. Will next year be as fun filled?
I think I feel a Rainbow Sleepover coming on!

the summer, members attended County Camp for a fun filled week of
adventurous activities. The Guides have given service by organising and
serving refreshments at the Civic Service, Village Carols, Christmas Concert
and Christmas Tree Festival. Several Guides have helped out at Rainbows
on a regular basis as Rainbow Helpers and members of both patrols have
run successful parties for the Rainbows in order to earn their Party Planner
badge. We have had the first Guide from Arlesey achieve her Baden Powell
award (the highest award a Guide can achieve). Well done Jeannette!

Stotfold Mill
There has been a mill on the site of Stotfold Watermill for over a thousand
years; its first written record is in the Domesday Book of 1086, when the
combined rents of the four mills in Stotfold was £4 and 400 eels. The Mill
passed through many owners and local disasters - fires, bankruptcies and
family disputes - as the Mill’s Archive Team are discovering. Its last owner
was Sam Randall whose family had been involved with the Mill since 1876
and he and brother George ran it till it ceased operating in 1966.
The Mill is a charity and all funds raised go to the upkeep of the building
and Nature Reserve. Major Events help to raise funds through the year.
