Arlesey Town Council has welcomed its newest Councillor , Martin Gould . Martin was appointed by co-option on 21st June and is already contributing to the Public Lands and Highways committee . We are also pleased to announce the appointment of Janet Bailey as Assistant Clerk . Janet was previously the office administrator .
Planning applications for the West side of our community continue to consume a large part of council business , as the Master Plan starts to be implemented . ATC wants to ensure that all the provisions of the Master Plan , including green space provision , standards of housing and the lowest possible impact from traffic are implemented properly , and has raised objection to plans that do not address these issues .
The draft Arlesey Neighbourhood Plan ( ANP ) was approved by Council in July and a public consultation is in progress . This plan aims to define and protect the neighbourhood values of our community and if approved will lead to the plan being adopted as part of local planning policy for the next ten to fifteen years . Further information can be found in the article in this issue of on the button or you can visit the ANP website : www . arleseynp . org . uk .
Following the change of main contractor at Central Bedfordshire , there has been no progress on the introduction of parking restrictions agreed in March . The council is in contact with CBC and is seeking an update .
Arlesey Town Council welcomes comments and suggestions from residents . You can contact individual councillors directly or via Susan or Janet in the council office .
Next event : Tuesday 23rd August see below
The Arlesey Neighbourhood Plan ( ANP ) project has now reached an important phase where the draft plan , which has been prepared by the project team over the past few months , is now subject to a mandatory consultation phase prior to being submitted to CBC . The ANP will ultimately be put to the Arlesey electorate for approval in a referendum and , once adopted , it will form part of Planning Policy for Arlesey that all developers will need to adhere to . This is very important for Arlesey as it faces a period of significant development over the next few years with Arlesey Cross , and the ANP is an opportunity to control and shape that development for the benefit of everyone in Arlesey .
The consultation was kicked off with a public event at the Youth Centre in mid-July , and there will be a second event at the Village Hall on the evening of Tuesday 23rd August . Look out on the ATC and ANP websites and ATC noticeboards for further information on this event .
All residents are urged to read the draft plan which can be found on the ANP website ( www . arleseynp . org . uk ), and comment on the policies that are being proposed . All feedback will be considered , and you can comment by email to projectteam @ arleseyno . org . uk , by post to the address below , or by completing the online survey at https :// www . surveymonkey . co . uk / r / ArleseyNeighbourhoodPlanDraftConsultation . The consultation period is open until 5pm on Wednesday 31st August 2016 .
