Archive Group
During 2004 the Town Council had donated to them for safe keeping
a number of old pictures of Arlesey. The Council decided it would be
worthwhile setting up an Archive group under the control of the Town
Council. A permanent responsible body to ensure old photographs and
documents relating to Arlesey would be safely preserved for the future.
On 22nd February 2005 an inaugural meeting was held. Since then
a great many photographs have been collected that are being digitally
recorded by a small band of dedicated volunteers. Over the years there

have been various exhibitions of pictures put on at the Community Centre
and have been well attended as well as small displays at the Arlesey Family
Fun Days.
We are now moving forward with plans to purchase suitable equipment
for the Resource Centre so that the collection can be available for reference
by the general public. The first step towards this end has been the setting
up of a board with a monthly display of some of the pictures, plus we will be
having a page each month in ‘On The Button’ which will show more of the
pictures and keep you up-to-date with the Archive Group.
If you have any old photographs, cuttings or postcards of Arlesey that you
like to share with the community and have a copy stored permanently on the
Archive database. We can scan them and return them to you.
If you want to get involved with the Archive group simply contact Lesley
at the Council offices, 01462 733722, or the chair of the group, Jim Randall
on 01462 733169, we’ll be happy to have you along to one of our quarterly
meetings.
