NEWS FROM ETONBURY ACADEMY Dogs Trust The Dogs Trust spent two days with Etonbury pupils showing Year 5’s how to care for their pet dogs. How to detect signs of sickness and key information on your pets, how you should exercise your dog and different leads you need to have. The Dogs Trust showed them how much food you need to feed your dog and what type of food. This is what a year 5 said about the experience of Dogs Trust’ it was really good and it was very interesting’ Holly Holmes 8MT EACA—Stotfold Fun Run A date for your diary! The annual Stotfold Fun Run will be taking place on Sunday 17th May 2015. This is a fantastic fundraiser for Etonbury Academy (EACA) and we hope that all the children and their families will take part. We are currently in the process of finalising the race route and plans are underway for entries to go ‘live’ in the near future. Watch this space! Ely-2Stotfold Challenge One of our school dads is organising a challenge walk/run. Raise money for the charity of your choice. Probable 8am start from Ely Ca-thedral on Saturday 9th May. Plus x2 ‘Mini’ Challenges, in-cluding ‘Ely-2-Cambridge’ (17miles) starting at 8am from Ely Cathedral and finishing at Jesus Green Cambridge and ‘Cambridge-2Stotfold’ (25miles) starting at 11am from Jesus Green in Cambridge. Basic refreshments provided at check-points, meal provided at finish line in Stotfold.’ Ski Trip 2015 The ski trip was a great success this year! All Etonbury, Robert Bloomfield and Samuel Whitbread students had a great time on the slopes which was fantastic to see! A special thank you to all staff and parent helpers who gave up their time to ensure all students had a wonderful and memorable experience! Cockerels who are making themselves at home. We NEED your help If you would like to help out on the farm during the weekends and school holidays by collecting eggs, feeding and changing drinking water for the Hens and Ducks, we would love to hear from you. If you would like to know more please call us on 01462 730391 KS3 met Alistair Patrick-Heselton for a fitness session with him before listening to his story in an assembly. Very inspirational. Alistair PatrickHeselton is a Paralympic footballer who suffered a serious head injury when he was young. He also had a terrible car accident and he was told he would never be able to play football again, after his recovery he was selected to play for the Paralympics. Holly Homes 8MT WE DAY We were really excited to be able to take 17 students to join in with the second We Day UK at The SSE Arena, Wembley. Our children have worked hard to help in creating change in both our local and global communities and we will be celebrating this in the greatest way possible and our students had an amazing, inspirational day. Taking to the stage this year was a cast of returning favourites and new faces, including Shawn Mendes, Kweku Mandela, Years & Years, Laura Whitmore, Conor Maynard, Sir Richard Branson, Holly Bran-son, Mr. Probz, Andy Barrow and Martin Sheen. Along with others, this all-star line up joined international activists and We Day co-founders, Craig and Marc Kielburger, to share their passion for change, international experiences, and energize the crow
