Scouts Jamboree
All welcome at these forthcoming events to raise funds for my Madeleine
Letowka’s World Scout Jamboree fund. She is one of two Arlesey Scouts
selected to represent Arlesey in a Japan next year. There will be 30,000
Scouts gathering from all over the world and the Bedfordshire Scouts &
Anglia Guides Contingent will be joined by two Guides from Gibraltar. The
theme is “Wa” which means Unity - very fitting in these special wartime
anniversary years. All 30,000 Scouts will be taken in groups to Hiroshima.
This is an incredible opportunity to meet youngsters from all over the world,
work & play together, and will present the young people all manner of
challenges. They have been busy preparing since November.
If any businesses or individuals would like to sponsor Madeleine, an event
or offer a raffle prize, we would, of course, be most grateful. Please do ask
of you would like some more information.

WI birthday party.
On Tuesday 13th May Arlesey WI celebrated our 96th Birthday Party. The
committee produced a most delicious ham salad with new potatoes and
there was a tremendous choice of fantastic desserts. We were entertained
by ‘It Takes Two’ and members danced the evening away. A raffle was
organised with lots of excellent prizes. Our thanks go to the two husbands
who came and gallantly washed up for us.
The meeting on June 10th starting at 7.30 pm in the WI Hall will be talk on
the Lytton ladies of Knebworth House. This was arranged after our visit and
tour of Knebworth House last year.
