Operation CCTV
There are still too many burglaries happening in the local area. As the
police are few and far between we have a problem that at certain times of
day different places are vulnerable. The neighbourhood watch do patrol the
village but cannot be in all places at all times.
With 3 burglaries taking place over the last few weeks home and business
owners are being asked to take extra precautions on securing property.
In two of the burglaries that have happened recently, in Lymans Road and
Church Lane, thieves have gained access to the rear of the properties and
broken in through patio doors. Jewellery and cash were taken.
This is where you could come in
Recent rises in crime in Arlesey have led residents to seek better ways of
protecting property. Arlesey Town Council had investigated the use of ANPR
cameras at each end of the village to register all vehicles coming in and
out of Arlesey. This was found to be unworkable. So is there another way
of using cameras to deter would-be burglars or even record any suspicious
‘goings on’?
‘on the button’ would like to hear from residents who felt that CCTV
cameras on their property could be used to monitor the routes in and out of
Arlesey. Lets say, that if you have a camera on the front of your property that
captured images or video of a crime on the street outside your house could
this be used to inform the police of the incident? Or even used by a pool of
people with cctv cameras to make this available to police in the event of a
crime in the area. The data would only need to be stored for a short space of
time and used if and when an incident occurred?
Please get in touch if you have any views or would like to be part of a
scheme like this.
