Arlesey Medical Centre
Arlesey Medical Centre are trying to ensure all qualifying patients get their
flu jab as soon as possible and this year have organised a walk in clinic for
our patients on Saturday 6 October between 09.00am to 13.00pm.
Flu is much more than “a bad cold” and can lead to serious
illnesses such as bronchitis and pneumonia leading to hospitalisation
or even death.
All people aged 65 or over are entitled to annual vaccination and also
anyone with certain conditions such as heart, kidney or liver disease,
diabetes or have suffered a stroke. Addtionally all pregnant women should
be vaccinated to protect themselves and the unborn baby.
The Department of Health strongly recommends annual vaccination
and the Medical Centre would encourage qualifying patients to come
and see us.

Gothic Mede Lower School: October
The start of the new school year was as busy as ever. Those of you who have
children with us currently or had children with us previously will know the hum
of excitement that occurs at the beginning of a new school term.
Some of you may be aware that our school roll is increasing. We have had
an additional classroom built on the playground which has given us a new feel
to the area. Our school council is working hard to ‘zone’ off the playground
with different activities so that children can enjoy playtimes even more. We
also intend to use the school’s area of the field more over the coming year and
would respectfully ask dog walkers to consider this as they exercise our canine
friends! I know that there are many responsible dog owners who clear up after
their pets but this is even more important when children play or access sports
activities on the field. Thank you for your consideration.
We welcome members of the community in our school: our Year 4 children
are hoping to organise a coffee morning for our senior citizens this term. Look
out for further information!

Arlesey War Memorial stands at the junction
between House Lane, Church Lane and
the High Street. Next month we would like
to feature the memorial and some history
surrounding it. If you have any stories from
Arlesey regarding the memorial or the town
in wartime please let us know and we will
add them in.
The men of the parish who gave
their all have some details listed
on a private website:
