Changes at Arlesey Nursery
School and Childcare Centre
The Governors at Arlesey Nursery School and Gothic Mede Lower School
are beginning the formal process of amalgamating the two schools. This will
involve public consultation, and a final decision by the Executive Members of
Central Bedfordshire Council. The anticipated timescale is to complete this
process for September 2014.
In the intervening period, both schools will continue to function as
separate schools, continuing to provide the current services. Both schools
are working together closely to ensure that the families in Arlesey continue
to receive high quality education and care for their children.
Carer’s Group
for Stotfold
The first Patient Participation Group [PPG] in England was set up by a GP
in 1972 and many general practices now have a PPG. They are generally
made up of a group of volunteer patients, the Practice Manager and one or
more of the GPs from the practice. They meet on a regular basis to discuss
the services on offer, and how improvements can be made for the benefit of
patients and the practice.
There is no set way in which a PPG works. The aim of the group depends
on the local needs – but it tries to make sure that the practice puts the patient
and improving health, at the heart of everything it does.
The role of a PPG is to:
• Represent the patient ‘voice’ to the practice
• Provide non-professional advice to the practice on its services
• rovide additional advice to the practice on Commissioning Board/NHS
P
directives that affect the surgery and its patient population
• To encourage people to take better care of their own health.
If you would like to have a say about the services provided at Larksfield
Surgery Medical Partnership, please join our PPG as the Practice would like
to hear your views.
There are two levels of involvement available; the first is to join the PPG
Committee. This involves attending around 6 meetings per year at the
surgery. The Committee is effectively the steering group for the wider PPG.
At the moment we have our full complement of 14 patients representing the
12,916 patients registered with the practice. However this does of course
change periodically, so please register your interest.
The second level is the wider PPG. This requires much less commitment,
just occasionally giving your views on questions and issues raised by the
PPG or Larksfield practice. The PPG may contact you about a variety
of topics, including existing policies and procedures or new ones being
introduced and ask you for your opinions.
If you would like to hear more about the Larksfield PPG please ask at
the reception desk at the surgery. Alternatively, if you have Internet access,
search for Larksfield Surgery and on the home page find the PPG logo shown
below.
Patient Participation Groups are an effective way for patients and GP
surgeries to work together to promote health and improved quality of care.
PPGs are making a real difference across the United Kingdom and your PPG
can help to improve local services. We would like to hear from you.
