To grow as an organization, we need to be
willing to use technology in unconventional
ways. We need to focus on outcomes
versus the technology. Because when we
can home in on the right technologies
that allow us to not only achieve run milestones, but growth ones as well, transformation can begin.
So as you browse this quarter’s issue of
ON, I challenge you to think about how
you can use technology differently. The
right technologies—from Lync to Office
365 to Yammer and, yes, even Kudos—can
have a direct impact on your employees
in ways other than enhanced productivity and increased throughput. So try your
hand at a new technology this month;
shake off that technology complacency;
and start looking for ways to focus on
business outcomes.
Unfortunately, most companies
don’t think about using technology
to drive the soft outcomes
they want, like improving culture
and increasing empowerment.
We mistakenly assume that
amorphous-like goals cannot
be solved by gadgets
and gizmos and are solely the
function of the human resources
department. But they can.
