All of us—at one point or another—have most likely worked for two types of organizations: one that empowers its individuals and one that places limitations on them. In fact, the truth is that as professionals, unless we are asked point blank to think about empowerment, we probably very seldom contemplate its role in the business world. According to a study by Accenture, the No. 3 reason employees quit their jobs every month is because they don’t feel empowered in their roles—demonstrating the concept is not top of mind. So we set out to host a roundtable discussion with likeminded IT executives at various New England companies to pull back the curtain on the benefits of employee empowerment.
