Get involved

Engage in your community through volunteering your time and skills to build a shared understanding . For example , volunteer to present a lunch & learn to a local interprofessional primary care team , or connect with your area MPP to coordinate a clinic visit .

Make connections

Develop relationships and build your network in your community . For example , get involved in your LHIN – sign up for their events and newsletter , participate in meetings , join MSK working groups , focus groups and steering committees . Follow their social media feeds to stay informed about special events and opportunities .

Never stop learning

Look for learning opportunities . Sign up for training workshops where you can gain new expertise from other professionals . Interdisciplinary programs that focus on collaborative and patient-centred practice are good ways to build skills and a health care network . For example , take an osteoarthritis program like the one offered by GLA : D Canada . Keep an eye open for subsidized training ; in some areas there is funding provided by LHINs . Attend industry conferences and check out courses available at universities and colleges .

Share your experiences

Connect with the OCA ! We can guide and support you in building community relationships if you share your experiences with us – tell us what you are experiencing out there in the system . In the meantime , here ’ s practical advice to help with applying for Rapid Access Clinic positions :
Your resume should highlight what sets you apart . If you have experience in a hospital setting detail in what capacity . Mention work experience in interprofessional settings , for instance working with surgeons or primary care physicians . And any advanced evidence-based training is important to note . We recommend highlighting experience or continuing education on quality improvement and program evaluation , as well as any teaching and interprofessional learning .
Take your time to read full job descriptions , as the job title posted might be misleading . For example , you might see a job listing for an Advance Practice Provider or Clinician and think it ’ s not for you – read the full job description before you discount the opportunity .
Watch for job postings that don ’ t include chiros when perhaps they should . For instance , a RAC job posting for a physiotherapist – don ’ t wait for a written invitation , apply and please flag it with the OCA !
Regularly check hospital job postings , your LHIN website under careers , and other online job boards for positions . Many of the job titles for the RAC positions include “ Advanced Practice Provider ”, “ Advanced Practice Clinician ”, “ MSK Lead ”, or “ Lead Practitioner ”.
