Patient Care Award
Dr. Jenny Elliott & Dr. Nekessa Remy
For the first time ever, we have selected two
Patient Care Award recipients.
Dr. Jenny Elliott (AECC, 2002) has been practicing
in Guelph for 15+ years and is known for her
excellent patient rapport, empathy and technique. For
her, the patient experience—from initial contact, office
ambiance to discharge—is vital, and she is constantly examining
and optimizing every aspect to facilitate quality patient care. Dr.
Elliott is committed to multidisciplinary therapy; collaborating
daily on patient files with personal trainers, weight loss coaches,
chiropodists, massage therapists and physiotherapists. She has
fostered a collaborative learning environment where all practitioners
continually improve and share their skills with each other.
Dr. Nekessa Remy (CMCC, 2007) places a high priority on
empowering patients in the management of their personal care
plans; as a result, she demonstrates and incorporates the patient-
centred philosophy in her professional work. She is committed
to engaging her patients in their treatment plans, making sure
they understand their health conditions, facilitating confidence
and restored control. A team player, Dr. Remy collaborates with
other health care practitioners so patients have access to a range
of treatment modalities, and she herself offers various manual
therapies and functional rehabilitation plans with a holistic approach.
CHA of the Year Award
Amelia Malig & Cherle Burns
Amelia Malig and Cherle Burns are two
outstanding CHAs who work together in
Toronto. Both Cherle and Amelia deliver
superior customer service resulting in a loyal and
highly engaged roster of patients. Together they
