Working Together
Editorial note: We at One Mission Society often share news of disasters around the world, how they affect our OMS ministries, and how you can help in these critical situations. We are pleased to share these follow-up reports about the hurricane in Haiti and the earthquake in Ecuador. Thank you for your generosity!
Ecuador
“ On April 16, 2016, the coast of Manta, Ecuador, was devastated by a 7.8 magnitude earthquake. The OMS Ecuador team, with guidance from OMS leadership, quickly moved into action. Through generous donations from many people, we opened a mobile soup kitchen, delivering nearly 200 hot meals three days a week for six weeks. We also took food, medicine, toiletries, clothing, water, and other supplies to countless people in the months after the earthquake. More importantly, with the collaboration of the OMSrelated church in Manta, we delivered hope by sharing the Gospel with hundreds. Many people came to know the Lord, and eight house churches were started and are still meeting today. We could not have done any of this without your help. Thank you for your generous giving!
“ We continue to move forward with relief and rebuilding efforts. We have helped rebuild and repair three churches and one home. But, much still needs to be done. Currently, 11 churches and 45 families have requested help. We have a plan in place. We just wait for God to supply the resources. We need construction teams, evangelism teams, and funds. Would you prayerfully consider how you can help?” – Darryl Chambers OMS Ecuador Field Director

Haiti
“ We are grateful for the funds provided to help families in crisis in the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew, which struck southwestern Haiti on October 4, 2016. Through cooperative efforts, we distributed food and construction supplies to people with the greatest need, where few or no other organizations were working.
“ Because of generous donors, we were able to deliver more than 12,000 pounds of rice, 300 cases of spaghetti, 400 pounds of beans, 100 cases of salmon, 100 cases of oil, and 5,000 pounds of corn. We also provided powdered milk, butter, sugar, corn flakes, soap, detergent, and crackers to help an orphanage continue operating while supplies were scarce.”
– Brett Bundy, OMS Haiti Field Director
“ While much has been accomplished since Hurricane Mathew, there still remains much to do. Homes, churches, clinics, and orphanages need to be repaired or rebuilt. We need construction teams, medical teams, and evangelism teams. How is God asking you be part of this?”
– Michael Shaferly Southern Haiti Ministry Coordinator
