At the end of 2017, we began the #GiveLight to North Korea campaign in an effort to bring light to the more than 20 million North Koreans living in darkness, having NEVER heard the Gospel. To date, more than $40,000 has been raised. THANK YOU! Through our partnership with Sarangnaru, funds have already been used to reach out to North Korean defectors and their children through tutoring services, shar- ing the Gospel, and planting a church. We have also used funds to disciple North Korean transients in China, for prayer ministries in North Korea, and for Adventures in English for a United Korea, (our English camp for North Korean defectors held in August 2018). Additionally, donations are being used to run a group home for young North Korean defectors and South Koreans to live together and be discipled, as well as providing funding for scholarships for defectors to attend Seoul Theological University (STU) to be trained to become pastors in the Korea Evangelical Holiness Church (KEHC), the OMS- founded denomination. As you may know, since the mid-1990s, more than 1 million people have died of starvation from the famine and economic collapse in North Korea, and many people have crossed the border, seeking relief. Each year, up to 3,000 people enter South Korea, and now, more than 30,000 North Korean defectors live in South Korea. Among them, a few thousand have become Christians. North Korean defectors who come to know Christ can be quite effective in shar- ing the Gospel with North Koreans since they understand their situation. In the future, we hope they will also be effective in sharing the Gospel around the world, as they have been refined through the fires of suffering in ways that most other people have not. The KEHC now desires to train North Korean defectors as pastors by facilitating their study at STU. However, it is difficult for most of these defectors to afford both the tuition and their living expenses while attending seminary. Therefore, OMS is cooperating with the KEHC North Korea Missions Committee and STU to provide scholarships. We are committed to providing $10,000 for five defectors to attend the seminary. If you would like to be a part of this continued effort to reach North Koreans with the Gospel, you may send your gift for project #407995 to OMS. Thank you again for your partnership in the Gospel! 14
