A ministry of One Mission Society, H ope 61seeks to prevent human trafficking around the world
by equipping the local church. By learning about human trafficking; understanding the causes of
vulnerability to becoming involved in human trafficking; and considering how the church’s existing
gifts, talents, and resources can be used to reduce those vulnerabilities, churches can be equipped
to have a significant impact in preventing this atrocity from happening in their communities.
E ngage
2018
was a transformational
year for HOPE61.
More than 2,000 people were trained
in the H ope 61 E ngage training, a one-day
training that equips the church to
prevent human trafficking. For the first
time, national coworkers facilitated a
number of these trainings, which makes
them more culturally relevant, reduces
the need for translation, and allows
more people to be trained. H ope 61 also
began to train U.S.-based churches for
the first time in 2018 and looks forward
to that ministry outreach growing
significantly in the next few years.
M ultiply
H ope 61
classifies human trafficking
into four categories:
• Labor trafficking
• Sex trafficking
• Organ trafficking
• Child soldiering.
The three classifications of
people involved in trafficking
include:
• Victims
• Traffickers
• Buyers
H ope 61 offers a four-day training called
M ultiply to equip trainers to facilitate the
E ngage trainings. In early 2018, three
Haitian coworkers completed the
M ultiply training, which has allowed a
substantial increase in the impact that
H ope 61 can have in Haiti. H ope 61 also
has national coworkers leading human
trafficking prevention trainings in Spain
and Brazil.
2019,
In
national coworkers
will attend M ultiply training events in
Uganda, India, Mongolia, and Southeast
Asia.
Human trafficking is a major scourge on societies around world. H ope 61 is committed to seeing the end of this evil but
acknowledges the immensity of the challenge. The problem is massive, but God’s saving love and power
are so much bigger.
