• Discover how you can have a greater missions impact.
OMS missionary Harry Burr said, “You must plan your vacation and go to the OMS conference
at Winona Lake. You’ll have a great time, and you’ll meet people of amazing faith. You’ll be astonished as you hear accounts of how God opens incredible doors of ministry in answer to prayer,
even though some faced prison, persecution, and difficult times.” We drove to Winona Lake and
felt God’s presence and deepening call on our lives.
For most of the past 70 years, the OMS conferences have been the summer highlight of hundreds of people, including OMS friends and supporters, field missionaries, and national coworkers.
A year after attending our first conference, we were in the application process to become
OMS missionaries. The Kilbournes from Korea, the Duewels from India, and the Gillams from
Colombia, among others, challenged our dreams to grow. How we longed to discover the secret
of their passion and faith.
From our church in Kalamazoo, Michigan, a carload of young people went to experience
the missions-related youth camp that was held during the conference. One youth was Lorna
Chandler, who later became my OMS missionary neighbor in Taiwan.
Another year, my niece, who came from an abusive, broken home, attended conference. She
gave her heart to Jesus and has been living for him faithfully ever since.
The 2014 conference will be a time to celebrate Men for Missions’ 60th anniversary. Former
MFM director Harry Burr, as a rising insurance salesman, was told by his company, “Give your
life to our company, and you’ll go to the top.” Harry heard God saying, “Give your life to me, and
through me, hundreds of lives will be saved for eternity.” Today, hundreds still do, go, and give
as the Lord calls.
We invite you to come and taste a one-of-a-kind experience. It can be your vacation getaway
to learn more about God’s worldwide agenda and see how you can engage in Great Commission
work. Since the last international conference in 2006, OMS has opened 35 new fields. I can’t
wait to hear the stories!
