India Ukraine Colombia Brazil Recently, Marla and Micah Routon, OMS missionaries serving in Brazil, were unloading equipment from their car for church (they rent space in a hotel right across from a busy beach) when a hotel employee named Sergio came to help. He told them that he was a believer and asked if they were the church that had done the baptism service at the beach about four months earlier. They said “yes!” Then Sergio said to them, “You are not going to believe this, but my daughter accepted Jesus at your baptism service. She was just walking by and began to watch the service, then started to cry. Her life has changed now … and since then her husband has also accepted Jesus. She’s looked for your church, but couldn’t find it. I told her to just come to church with me for now, and God would provide a way for her to find your church. And now, here you are!” 16 Moody Radio announced in September 2014 the completion of the Bible in the Kuna (Guna) language. OMS participated in the beginning of this project from 1945-1950. In the OMS book, His Banner Over Me Is Love, author and OMS missionary Florence Cavender tells the amazing story of going from Medellín, Colombia, to the Kuna Indians 300 miles away. Along the way, she faced incredible hazards. She lived in the home of the Kuna chief and led his family and the tribe to Christ. She learned the language, trained in linguistics, and began the Bible translation, working with Wycliffe. However, the Lord led her to turn the project over to them, leaving her more time for evangelism and teaching. Seven people accepted the Lord at an OMS English outreach camp in Kiev, Ukraine. Since the completion of the camp, 15 of the 26 students have been actively involved in a weekly life group, and 8 are now in one-on-one discipleship each week. Recently, OMS missionary Tim Roehl, a lover of books and former pastor with an extensive library, asked the question, “Lord, what should I do with my books?” Knowing that OMS partners with more than 100 seminaries and Bible colleges around the world, Tim decided to donate the majority of his books to India, a country that needs more printed resources. After consulting with OMS theological education director, Bill Vermillion, the Roehls, along with five other book contributors, donated about 100 boxes of books, containing more than 4,500 books that will go to 3 seminaries and 10 Bible colleges throughout India. Mozambique God is awakening the leaders of the Living Word Evangelical Church to a new era of spiritual strengthening and sanctification. In obedience to God, and in order to live with integrity, many church couples are starting the process of legalizing their marriages before God, the church, and the community. This bears powerful witness to lives being transformed by the Gospel. 17
