Estonia OMS missionary Mark Nelson shares, “When you live in remote villages on the Arctic Circle, prayer can easily become a serious issue. Last winter, we had to drive on the frozen river for about 200 kilometers to the nearest town. Halfway there, the car broke down. We were stuck. But I encouraged the people with me (most of whom were not Christians) to pray with me. A few minutes after we finished praying, another vehicle came by. It was a miracle! We could have waited days before anyone came. God sent the car at just the right time to save our lives and be a great testimony to the people I was with.” Australia Colombia In October, as a Men for Missions evangelism team shared Christ in Medellín, Colombia, 392 people made decisions for Christ. Several groups, each consisting of a local church member, a translator, and an American short termer, participated in door-to-door evangelism, using the EvangeCube. The MFM team helped four local churches reach their community with the hope of Jesus Christ. It’s harvest time in Colombia! Haiti Recently at Bethesda Medical Clinic, a young woman was taken to Dr. Rodney. After being told she was pregnant, she stated she was going to get an abortion. The woman already had five children, ages 5 and under. The kids were hungry. Dr. Rodney counseled her and convinced her not to have an abortion, saying that her suffering would be greater long term than the hunger now. As it turned out, she was a pastor’s wife and was not going to tell her husband. Thankfully, the Lord worked through Dr. Rodney, and he enrolled her into several benefit programs available through the clinic to help with her needs. 16 India Rev. Moses Gnansekaran, an Indian pastor in the Evangelical Church of India’s Chennai diocese, recently attended an OMS Hope61 training. He shares, “I did not know much about human trafficking. One Sunday after the church service, a poor uneducated woman asked me to pray for her as she was planning to go abroad to work in a house as a maid. Since I had attended the training, I immediately asked her if she knew anyone working there. Who was the agent hiring her? I then prayed for her, explaining the ways that people are trafficked, including through these types of work opportunities. The Hope61 seminar opened my eyes to see the potential dangers of human trafficking. I thank God that I, too, can play a significant role in the prevention of human trafficking in India.” 17 A young couple from a closed country, residing in Australia, hosted his parents for a visit. The young man was afraid to tell his Muslim father about his new faith, so he stopped attending the Bible studies for a short time. The group leader encouraged him to bring his parents to a meeting. The young man told his father, “I am lonely here in Australia, so I have joined a group. They are Christians, but they are very nice to me. Would you come with me?” The father attended. Afterward, he told the leader, “If everything you say is true, I have been walking in the wrong direction all my life.” He gave his life to Christ. He has now returned to his home country and started a group, leading several of his family members to Christ.
