where he will spend eternity.
The missionary team visiting the prison
as part of Resounding Hope’s evangelism
and solar radio distribution outreach had
not planned a prison visit that day. But as
team member John Menefee, from Indiana,
said, “God had other plans. He allowed a
roadblock to [send us in another direction
and] get us into the prison.”
And John, like most, was anxious about
going into a place like that. “I don’t know
who would be crazy enough to go into a
Haitian prison, but the next thing I know, I
hear myself saying, ‘I’ll go!’ The Holy Spirit
was moving.”
The conditions were terrible in the 8’ by
10’ cells. The men were all jammed in. With
no beds, they couldn’t even lie down at the
same time. Jugs of urine stood outside the
prison bars.
“At the first cell,” John says, “I had no
idea what to say. But I prayed. And I just
started talking about sin, how we are all
sinners, and how I needed Christ just as
much as those men in the cell needed him.”
Fito was among three men in the first
cell who prayed to receive Jesus as his
Savior. “Fito was practically bursting with
joy!” John said.
In every cell, every man was at the bars,
paying attention and listening as the team,
led by Emmanuel Félix (known as Medson),
talked with the men about Jesus.
In several of the other cells, some men
came to the Lord, while others were only
ready to receive a radio. Incidentally, there
was no fighting over the one radio given to
each cell; rather, the men promised, “We’re
all going to listen to this!”
Please pray for this radio ministry—that
God will use the radios, the daily broadcasting of Radio 4VEH, and the audio New
Testament to draw men, women, children,
and youth to himself.

Radio can be an extremely powerful way
to reach people who would otherwise be
unreachable with the Gospel. Whether communities are cut off by flooded roads or
backbreaking mountain climbs, or people
are isolated by prison bars, the radio signal
travels unhindered. All that’s needed is a
Resounding Hope solar radio in their hands
to pick up the daily broadcasting of Radio
4VEH.
Reach the lost in Haiti today
by sponsoring a
Resounding Hope solar radio
Each donation of $60 will sponsor a Resounding
Hope solar radio that is fix-tuned to Radio
4VEH and pre-loaded with an audio New
Testament in Haitian Creole. Every day, the
people who receive the radio—whether in
a village home, a hospital ward, or a prison cell—will hear farming and health advice, life-saving information when disaster
strikes, and the ultimate in Good News, the
resounding hope of Jesus Christ.
