baptized 500 people in the last six years.
Another person in Athens has seen a multiplication movement reaching four generations and now numbering about 130 believers in just one year. And finally, another
convert in the U.K. has personally led 40
people to Christ since she came to the
Lord this year.
In 2010, CRIB (Christian Response to
Islam in Britain) and the Evangelical Alliance/
Global Connections embraced Mahabba
and suggested to all those working with
Muslims in Britain that Mahabba Networks
should be set up nationally in cities with a
high Islamic presence. This was accepted
unanimously as the best way forward,
so that thousands of ordinary Christians
across the country could be trained to
reach Muslims, rather than just leave it to
the “specialists.”
In 2012, One Mission Society partnered with us to form Mahabba Network
International, with a vision to motivate
and mobilize ordinary Christians to reach
Muslims for Christ and to mentor and multiply dynamic communities of disciples in
Islamic neighborhoods. With OMS’ support, I was asked to coordinate this new
ministry because of my business background and experience.
In Britain, we are clearly facing the rapid
“Islamization” of our society, but also the
dwindling influence and silencing of the
church. This is becoming a major factor in
some communities where people are being made to feel that they need to move
out to give way to the spread of Islam in
their community. However, on a positive
note, we are also being presented with an
unprecedented opportunity to reach out
in love to the thousands of Muslim people
who now live among us in the U.K. Our
prayer is that people will not respond with
fear and alienate themselves from face-toface contact with Muslim people. Mahabba
