Miracles Today
We sometimes read about the miraculous healings in the Gospels or Acts with wistful longing. We think,“ God did that back then, but not now. Even if he does, it must be rare.” Yet our God is faithful and unchanging, and in places where the church is not, he often demonstrates his power in remarkable ways.
This past year in the Isan province of Thailand, God showed his grace through nearly weekly miraculous healings. On one occasion, a prayer team met a couple named Winai and Hoi. Winai had been unable to bend his leg for three months, despite multiple doctor visits and hundreds of dollars spent on medication. The team prayed, and Winai immediately bent his straightened leg.
Winai then called his wife’ s uncle, Ohd. Two years earlier, Ohd had been stabbed in the shoulder by his drunken ex-wife, leaving him with a severed nerve that kept him from raising his arm or working. The team prayed for him, and he immediately lifted his arm. The entire family then came to faith in Jesus! Praise God for his faithfulness as he continues to break through the darkness.
Building on 50 Years of Partnership
For 50 years, the Lord has faithfully worked through the partnership between OMS and the OMS-founded denomination in Asia / Oceania. Although most of the region’ s 280 million people remain unreached, God is doing some of his most astounding work among faithful followers committed to“ a long obedience in the same direction”( Eugene Peterson, minister and author).
In 2025, the denomination celebrated 50 years of obedience— trusting in God’ s faithfulness and, together with OMS and two thriving OMS-founded seminaries, they looked to saturate the country with the Good News of Jesus Christ. We look with anticipation to the One who has led for the past 50 years and will continue to lead us into the future, for the glory of our Lord and King.
