MAJA STANOVIĆ, drama educator
Workshop “Narcissist” Constance A. Dunn, which is based on an acting technique of
Sanford Meisner, focuses on a man / actor and his encounter with others and
truthfulness / plausibility of that meeting. For me, as a dramatic educator, the most
interesting part of the workshop was the search for truthfulness, which can be
realized only in the encounter with others, and it finally, allows us the encounter with
ourselves; as well as ability to change, grow and progress. Discovering the truth that
sets us free and gives us the opportunity to become a more complete and better is a
unique and miraculous process, in theater and in life, because it is infused with a
variety of emotions, and it is precisely those emotions that makes us human. This
workshop teaches us how to get out of the established patterns of encountering each
other and actually meet each other. Everything else is secondary, and it becomes
important only because of the particularities of that meeting. Theater is also a
meeting - with a partner on stage, with the group, with an audience, and at the end
again and again with itself. “How can we convey the truth to the audience in the
theater if we do not recognize it in life?”- Constance asked us. She allowed us to feel
safe, and, because of that, we felt free to give and receive, discover (ourselves),
accomplish (ourselves) and create.
