STOP ILLEGAL DUMPING Illegal dumping of garbage is a threat to the environment. That’s why the Division of Infrastructure, Quarries and Environment is committed to doing all it can to reverse this trend, according to Secretary Kwesi Des Vignes. Des Vignes said the Division is committed to upkeeping Tobago’s mantra of “clean, green, safe and serene”, and to curbing illegal dumping. “I’ve gotten reports of our environment police tracking down persons because [they] would have dumped personal correspondences among the items on the side of the road, and the police would have been able to track down people to clean up areas,” he said. Des Vignes said dumping is also on the rise at the Bon Accord Estate. “They are becoming bolder and bolder and I’m saying to the media and the public, that the police can’t be everywhere,” he said, adding: “We have to start being our own litter wardens”.
