ADDING COLOUR TO YOUR LIFE...
I’m a mother of 3 amazing
boys and I’ve been married for
the past 15years to the most
amazing man. Without my
husband, I don’t think that I’d
be where I am today. He keeps
me motivated and lets me
know that anything I put my
mind to do I can do it and he’ll
be behind me no matter what.
Makeup hasn’t always been
my passion, I’ve always loved
makeup but never wanted
to do it on other people. I
dabbled in a lot of other things
in my life. I sold pholourie and
pies in my neighborhood,
then started to work with the
company my husband works
for selling jewelry. Eventually,
I realized I couldn’t work for
anyone. I couldn’t handle
anyone telling me what to do
and when to do it. This is what
really pushed me to make
the decision to do a makeup
and nails course. The first
course I ever did was at Sacha
Cosmetics. Then I did a nails
course with Creative Nails,
but at that time I loved doing
nails more than I loved doing
makeup simply because I was
so good at it.
About two years later, my sister
showed me a makeup page by
the awesome Arlene Villarule
that made me fall head over
heels for makeup. I decided I
wanted to do another makeup
class ….with her! She did
things with makeup I never
thought was possible, the way
she blended colors and the
way she did designs on the
face only using makeup was
so intriguing to me. I did her
advance makeup class and
it was epic. I use to practice
makeup every chance I got,
which was probably every
day.....lol.....my face would
get so bruised by putting on
makeup and taking it off all
day. I did so many different
looks.
On the last day of my class,
I asked her if she needed
anyone to join her team I’m
available and within the same
week, I got a call from her
asking me to attend a meeting.
And so I joined her team and
worked with Mrs. Villarule for a
year and a half.
When I made the decision to
go on my own, at first it was
the most frightening thing. But
soon after, the request for me
to teach classes was coming in
abundantly. This led me to do
one on one classes with people
and realized that teaching
other persons to do makeup
was so hard. Telling someone
to hold the brush a certain
way and having them hold it
another way was so frustrating
to me. I knew what I was doing
but trying to teach someone
to do it in hopes that they do it
just like I taught was hopeless.
So I stopped teaching for a
while.
Then my husband told me
to try it again and build up a
studio for me with 5 counters.
I did gave it another try and
started teaching 5 different
students 3 times a day 5 days
a week. Though a tiring job, it
was worth it. I finally found my
passion for makeup and not
just doing it for people but also
teaching them and making
them feel so much better
about themselves.
Back in 2014 I got a call from
a lady named Buntrica Bastian
from Las Vegas telling me
how great my work was and
that she wanted me to come
to Jamaica to do her class so
she flew me over to Jamaica
all expenses paid and certified
me, a short while after she
invited me to her home in Las
Vegas where I did her educator
course which was an amazing
opportunity for me. Later that
year I flew to Las Vegas again
to teach at one of her makeup
conferences and that was the
most memorable experience
in my career. When I walked
into the conference everyone
got up an started applauding
and calling my name from all
different parts of the world and
I was like is all this for me. I was
in total shock and still am, up
to this day.
My next step was starting my
own makeup line called Think
Pinké and I am now taking
my teachings to a new level,
teaching in the Caribbean. I’ve
taught in Guyana, Antigua,
Grenada and in Canada.
Hopefully one day I’ll be able
to share my teachings with the
world.
