of his God-given abilities would mean nothing if not for the
opportunities afforded to me by the sacrifices of a good
mother; the generosity of a music teacher; the guiding hand
of a mentor; the support of an entire community. He went
on further to mention one of his favourite quotes “We don’t
accomplish anything in this world alone ... and whatever
happens is the result of the whole tapestry of one’s life and
all the weavings of individual threads from one to another
that creates something.” - Sandra Day O’Connor.
“Zuiegnung” will feature Hungarian pianist, Dr Charles
Brunner, Guinness world record holder, who will show his
skill in accompanying Thomas in many genres throughout
his entire recital. Other collaborating artists such as “soul
soprano” Llettesha Sylvester, who just completed a successful
as the lead role in “Mahalia, the Gospel Musical”, the new
voice on the block Delina Roberts Lina, another soprano
who was discovered by Thomas at The Eastern Performing
Arts Fraternity’s recent music festival and virtuoso flautist
and saxophonist Jeremy Chatoor, who is a member of the
National Symphony Orchestra of Trinidad and Tobago. The
tenor will also be joined by pannist Marcus Ash, a member
of the National Steel Symphony Orchestra of Trinidad and
Tobago, percussionist Ernesto Garcia of Venezuela, dancer
Jillia Cato, guitarist Ian Moreau and voices of the Eastern
Chorale.
Thomas ended the interview with these words ,“I know that
this kind of event may not be popular amongst the T&T
population, however, I believe if one comes with an open
mind and they let the music take control, they would really
enjoy and appreciate what classical musicians of Trinidad
and Tobago have to offer. I often hear people say things
like, “Dis eh we kindah music” or “Daiz nuh we culture”
however, I believe that music is now a universal language.
Via modern technology, different genres of music are now
more than ever before being fused into pop culture. People
are beginning to realise the power of music and what it can
do for us. I say let the music play on! I encourage all music
lovers to come out and give this event a chance.”
