Less wait time, better service.
That’s what the Division of Health and Wellness
is seeking to bring to emergency room (E.R.)
healthcare at the Scarborough General
Hospital.
Health Secretary Agatha Carrington said
a quality improvement initiative has been
started to address E.R. service issues at the
Hospital.
“We know that will take some time,” Carrington
said. “We anticipate in about three months we
should see some results in terms of the wait
time, we know that there is work to be done in

terms of the interface between our clients and
our clinicians and some work will be done in
those areas so that that will be improved.”
Greater oversight of clinicians to ensure better
service delivery, the Secretary said, is a major
goal for the Division. She acknowledged that
there have been “some inefficiencies” in that
area, and said there has been a lot of focus on
improving these processes.
She said the overall aim is ensure everyone
in Tobago has access to quality healthcare
service.
