IN 2017, THE INDUSTRY CONTINUED TO EMBRACE DIGITAL OPPORTUNITIES, AND INVEST
IN TECHNOLOGY TO INCREASE AUDIENCE ENGAGEMENT AND DELIVER RETURN ON
INVESTMENT TO ADVERTISERS.
Adshel added 150 digital screens to the
Melbourne CBD and suburban railway
stations and, working with Public
Transport Victoria, designed SmartBus
Totems which delivered real-time
information through the use of low-cost
solar-powered technology.
APN Outdoor continued to expand
its digital network reaching 100 digital
billboards in 2017, and four new full
motion and audio screens in Perth
Railway Station.
Big Screen Video installed APN Outdoor’s
100th digital billboard, and upgraded the
Adelaide Oval with 1,000 linear metres
of LED screen.
Bishopp Outdoor Advertising worked
closely with Councils and clients to deliver
new landmark digital sites in Bundaberg,
Gladstone, Rockhampton and Ipswich.
goa launched a new flagship site, the
Bowen Hills ICONIC. The culmination of
years of work and planning, the billboard
incorporates a number of new elements
to the design.
JCDecaux continued its digital roll out
across Chatswood, North Sydney and the
Sydney CBD, as well as adding 55 Digital
Citylights across Brisbane’s CBD and inner
suburbs. In addition, 12 new Telstra digital
WiFi enabled payphone kiosks were
unveiled in Perth’s CBD, displaying local
information for the community via Perth
City Council.
oOh!media doubled its large format
digital billboards in 2017 to total more
than 260 in market.
QMS Media ‘switched on’ the first
roadside digital billboards in Canberra.
It also launched QMS Media’s Sport,
delivering a fully integrated sports media
channel through iconic on-field LED
screens, virtual reality branding and in-
stadium digital integration.
Tonic Health Media built its TV network
from 1,000 to 2,000 screens, updated
its digital signage network with beacon
capability, and acquired a network of
digital screens in pharmacies.
