The hardest part to deal with this technique is how to repre-
sent and execute what you are seeing in your mind while be-
ing almost blind in the middle of the darkness? Here comes
the best part and I thank Olympus engineers for creating the
“Livecomposite” mode that helps lightpainters and allows to
see in real-time, directly on the screen what you are creating in
the dark. It is an amazing feature and with this the chances to
improve your own skills are multiplied x 100 times.
So, I bought my OM-D E-M5 Mk2 with the Zuiko 12-40 Pro lens
and I think that thanks to its lightweight, water and sand proof
qualities, is a perfect tool for a lightpainter. In this way I can
bring with me more lightning equipment and leave at home
the heavier and older reflex camera.
As a LPWA member (Lightpainting World Alliance), I can state
that lightpainting has endless fields still unexplored. In the last
few years it is becoming more popular so, now is a good time
to reach bigger audience and spread this technique all over
the world.
In the meanwhile I’m still looking for the
“light trough the darkness”.
