When it was about to finished, the Olympic Games were handed over to Rio de Janeiro for the 2016 Olympic Games and the three national flags (Greece to honour the birthplace of the Olympic Games, United KIngdom and of Brazil, where the next Summer Games will be) were hoisted according to the protocol. Then the Olympic Hymn was sung by the London Welsh Male Voice Choir and the London Welsh Rugby Club Choir as the Olympic Flag was lowered and carried from the stadium.
Before the ceremony ended the Olympic flame was extinguised: the petals that formed it were part-lowered, and fireworks set off behind and before it extinguised The Royal Ballet performed a dance called 'The Spirit of the Flame'.
