OP AND EDMUND-LOTEN TENNIS 2025
Despite the blustery conditions and a smaller pool of players this year, the OP and Edmund-Loten Tennis matches still delivered some enjoyable and competitive play.
In the OP ladies’ doubles, OPs Caitlin Marshall( 17-24) and Amy Blight( 16-24) came through a closely fought contest against Beth P( School) and Sara DiStasio( 19-25). Both pairs showed good form, but it was Marshall and Blight who edged ahead, winning by two sets to one thanks to their solid teamwork and consistency.
The Edmund-Loten mixed doubles match also proved entertaining. OPs Bryony Underwood( 10-18) and Trevor Loten( 70-80) took on the School’ s top pair, Charley D and Henry C, in a match that began with a tense first set. Charlie and Henry mounted a strong comeback to force a tiebreak, but Underwood and Loten held their nerve to take it 7-6, before going on to win the second set 6-2 and retain the Edmund-Loten Trophy.
Although numbers were down this year, the smaller turnout allowed for a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, whilst at the same time the quality of play remained high, and the spirit of the event was as strong as ever.
All in all, it was a solid afternoon of tennis, with both matches offering moments of quality and competitiveness despite the gusty weather.
A big thank you to all the players for taking part and making the afternoon a success. Thanks also to OP Committee member, Trevor Loten, for coordinating the matches. We look forward to welcoming even more participants next year!
