Alexandra Dariescu ( 02-03 ) joined the Royal Northern College of Music ’ s School of Keyboard Studies in September as a Senior Tutor in Piano . In an interview for the RNCM , Alexandra commented : “ I look forward to welcoming my first class , to being part of my students ’ journey , to nurture , inspire and prepare them for a career in the 21st century .”
Jodie Hill ( 00-06 ), Solicitor and employment law company founder , appeared on the TV show Steph ’ s Packed Lunch in March 2022 as one of their legal experts . The programme was broadcast live from the Channel 4 studio in Leeds which is also where Jodie ’ s firm , Thrive Law , is based .
Lieutenant Simon Holden ( 97-05 ) has been appointed the Commanding Officer of HMS Dagger , a brand-new class of sea vessel in the Royal Navy . He is stationed in Gibraltar as the Gibraltar Squadron ’ s Operations Officer and Specialist Navigator .
Laura Horne ( 01-08 ) and her RAF Women ’ s Hockey teammates were crowned Indoor Interservice Champions in November 2021 after a closely fought 6-5 win against the Army and a 7-1 victory against the Navy . It ’ s the first time the RAF have secured the women ’ s trophy since 1997 !
Daniel Wright ( 97-04 ) has added to his judicial portfolio having been appointed as a fee paid judge of the First-Tier Tribunal , assigned to the Immigration and Asylum Chamber . Daniel will be taking a career break from the Department for Education Legal Advisers Office to concentrate on this role , alongside his fee paid Employment Judge appointment .
2010 - PRESENT
Tom Baarda ( 10-17 ) performed with the Cambridge University Opera Society to present Strauss ’ Die Fledermaus at the West Road Concert Hall , one of Cambridge ’ s premiere music venues . Tom is PhD student in Classics . During his undergraduate degree he performed regularly in musicals but has turned to Opera this year . He sings in Christ ’ s Chapel Choir and the Cambridge University Chamber Choir .
Will Blackburn ( 06-17 ) recently finished his 737-type rating to fly for Ryanair . He flew the jet for the first time in June for his base training . This involves performing six take off and landings and one go around for practice without any passengers . This was after two and a half months of training in the classroom , doing written exams , and 65 hours in the simulator learning everything about the 737 jet . Once his new licence comes through , he will be able to fly with passengers .
Jasmine Bunn ( 06-17 ) is working at a mixed practice in South Yorkshire , after she gained First Class Honours in her degree in Veterinary Medicine and Science .
Andrew D ’ Arcy ( Honorary OP , 83-21 ), former Pocklington School Catering Manager , appeared on national television in April in ITV quiz show , Tipping Point , hosted by Ben Shephard . After the tough preliminary rounds , Andrew went through to the final round by the narrowest of margins . In the final round itself , Andrew ’ s first jackpot attempt was unsuccessful , but luck was on his side and in an all-or-nothing second chance decision , he traded in his accumulated prize money of £ 2,600 for a final attempt at the £ 10,000 jackpot which to his astonishment he won !
Tiggy Elwes ( 09-18 ) has been awarded the Worshipful Company of Bakers ’ top student for her year group and has been proposed to join the Company in the City of London . Tiggy recently graduated with a First Class Honours in her BSc ( Hons ) Baking Science and Technology : New Product Development degree from London Southbank University . She is now a Development Baker at Jackson ’ s .
Kobby Fofie ( 10-21 ) was named the National Two North ‘ player of the week ’ at the end of March . He is a back row player for Hull Ionians in the National League 2 North . This is a level four league in the English rugby union system and provides semiprofessional competition for teams in the northern half of England , the North and Midlands .
Sam Hird ( 06-17 ) gave his first professional recital in York in December after graduating from the Royal College of Music , London , with First Class Honours in Music this year . Sam has been successful in securing a scholarship to continue his studies at the Royal College for a further two-year Masters course .
Charlotte Horsley ( 08-15 ) completed her studies in Medicine MBChB and has secured a job as a junior doctor at Southmead Hospital , Bristol . During her medical studies , Charlotte obtained a First Class Honours in BSc Global Health with Basic Medical Sciences from Kings College , London .
Emma Huddlestone ( 07-16 ) is an International Hospitality Management graduate . She spent twoand-a-half years at university in Leeuwarden , The Netherlands and then completed the final six months at The Autonomous University of Barcelona , as part of an exchange programme . She secured a fourth year industry placement at The Grand , York which after completing this year , has since been promoted to the Food & Beverage Guest Experience Manager at the same establishment . She primarily works in the new fine dining restaurant , Legacy , which opened in August . Her appointment with the company is part of The Grand ’ s first ever Graduate Management programme . The hotel was the Catey Award Winner of ‘ Hotel of the Year ’ in July 2022 .
Sarah Jackson ( 11-18 ) completed her degree in Modern Languages and English at the University of Birmingham graduating with first class honours and a distinction in spoken French . She has now started a Law conversion course , MA Law , at the University of Law in Birmingham .
Harry Kneeshaw ( 12-19 ) performed with the Hull Philharmonic Orchestra in the second programme of Classic Concert Favourites held at Hull City Hall on 26 February 2022 . He was the violin soloist in Max Bruch ’ s Scottish Fantasy and featured in a ‘ Meet the Artist ’ live interview on stage before the concert . Harry is currently studying at the Royal Academy of Music in London .
Joe Laudage ( 04-15 ) was recently appointed as a Junior Buyer with supermarket chain Lidl having completed their 2-year graduate programme gaining experience in supply chain , logistics and sales . He studied International Business Management with German at Newcastle University including a oneyear work placement in Germany for agricultural machinery manufacturer Grimme . Joe has now relocated from the UK back to Germany with his new role at Lidl which he started in August .
Brogan Loftus ( 06-13 ) was appointed Head of Model Division at Forte Model Management in 2021 . Forte is a specialist sports model agency based in London . Brogan has worked as a model with several model agencies including Select Model Management and as a model scout and booker with Linden Staub agency .
Alistair Moran ( 00-11 ) celebrated a year of taking over the running of The Blacksmiths Arms recently , a village country pub in Lastingham , in the North Yorkshire Moors . Being a chef himself and having worked for the previous owners for the past six years , Alistair settled in quickly as the new Landlord and is proud of his new business which in a feature article for the Yorkshire Post he said “ provides a good supply of ale and good home-made , fresh , honest cooking using lots of local suppliers .”
Archie Williams ( 08-13 ) moved to the USA in August to start a new position as a commodity trader with ADM . He is based in Chicago and would love to be in touch with any US-based OPs .
