Netherlandish art in the National Gallery on the 15th century masterpiece , The Magdalen Reading , by early Netherlandish painter Rogier van der Weyden . The University recently moved to a new campus at St Katherine Docks where Florence will complete her course after which she intends to stay in academia and undertake a Masters either in the UK or the USA .
Amy Crowther ( 05-16 ) completed her Masters in Advertising and Marketing at Leeds University in July . She secured a place on the Morrison ’ s Corporate Graduate Scheme which she started in September . On the scheme she will gain experience within Corporate Services , Online , Marketing , Wholesale and Property . Unbeknown to Amy , contemporary Natasha Leach ( 09-16 ) applied and was successful in gaining a place on the same scheme . The pair , who met up at the company induction , were two of only six graduates to be offered a place with Morrison ’ s from an initial selection of 12,000 candidates . A further Pocklington connection came to light when Amy discovered that her new line manager is a Pocklington School parent !
Harry Isenstein ( 06-17 ) graduated from Newcastle University in July with a degree in Business Management . He was delighted to join Mars in August on their Graduate Supply Chain Leadership Experience based in Reading . The programme will see him complete three roles in three years .
Georgina Lloyd ( 08-14 ) graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2020 as a Veterinary Surgeon and is now Dr Georgina Lloyd BVSc MRCVS . She has been working with small animals at Swanzdale Veterinary Care Centre , an independent veterinary practice in Scarborough . Although it was challenging starting her job during the pandemic , she really enjoys her work and walking her pet whippet , Lexi , on the beach !
Tom Loten ( 06-17 ) has been contributing to the scorecard for Yorkshire Cricket Club this last season . He opened the batting for the second XI in a threeday friendly against Durham MCCU and then more recently , went in third to bat for Yorkshire against Kent , above England Cricket star Joe Root .
Jemma McFarlane ( 07-16 ) enjoyed a trip down memory lane when she called into school in March to drop off a new marketing banner produced by her employer Signs Express Scarborough .
Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama where she received the Daniel Emlyn Davies Award for harp playing .
Magnus Swann ( 09-20 ) achieved three A * s in Art , Photography and Design A levels – an incredible feat considering it was in the midst of a pandemic and they are all practical , creative subjects . Magnus has since completed an Art Foundation course at York College and recently moved to Sheffield Hallam University to study for his degree in Product Design .
Jasmine Thompson ( 15-17 ) graduated with a first class honours degree in Philosophy from Newcastle University as reported earlier in the magazine . She is now at Northumbria University undertaking a Graduate Diploma in Law with a view to becoming a solicitor . Alongside this she is applying for future training contracts and gaining work experience and vacation schemes with commercial law firms .
Lewis Wilson ( 14-16 ) flew six thousand miles to get some game time in November 2020 , as he took up a contract with the Premiership rugby club , Sandy Bay , in Hong Kong . His first match saw him come off the bench to play for 15 minutes against Kowloon , making an immediate impression with a couple of key turnovers as Sandy Bay won 23-12 to move into second place in the Premiership table .
Phoebe Witty ( 11-19 ) who is studying Chemistry at Newcastle University is on her placement year working as a Research and Development Chemist with AkzoNobel .
Emily Wright ( 08-16 ) recently started her first trainee editorial job as a Junior Desk Editor with Edward Elgar Publishing in London . She is also studying for the NCTJ Postgraduate Diploma in Journalism qualification at the Press Association .
Martha Cullen ( 10-15 ) and her duo partner at the Royal Northern College of Music premiered their music project via livestream on Facebook and YouTube in April . The pair commissioned four composers to write new pieces for saxophone duo ; one created their own film , and the other three were accompanied by animation created by a student from Manchester School of Art . Martha recently won first prize in the Clarinet and Saxophone Society of Great Britain ( CASSGB ) Soloist Competition . She also reached the final of the RNCM Gold Medal Competition , which is the college ’ s most prestigious prize , and was awarded ‘ Highly Commended ’ by the panel . Martha graduated from the RNCM in July with first class honours in Music and now plans to continue her career as a freelance musician .
James Flint ( 00-11 ) was one of a team of four friends to complete the challenge of walking the entire 79-mile Yorkshire Wolds Way in a day , raising over £ 5,000 for Prostate Cancer UK .
Ben McNamara ( 16-20 ) made an excellent start to his career at top flight Rugby League club Hull FC in October 2020 , scoring a try on his debut appearance for the team . Graduating from Hull FC Academy , Ben signed a professional full-time contract with the Club after completing his A levels .
Jack Medforth ( 09-17 ) completed his MA Law conversion course ( the Graduate Diploma in Law with a Masters ) at the University of Law in Manchester in July , passing with distinction . He is currently based in London working as a paralegal before undertaking the Bar course next year .
