shortly after arriving in South Africa , he met up with John Derbyshire ’ s ( 36-78 ) wife , Hilda , Quentin Murray ( 68-73 ) and Simon Hollinson ( 67-76 ), and in 1998 he met Terry Hardaker ( Former Staff , 64-95 ) at the England v South Africa match at Twickenham . He was also a keen supporter of the Pocklington School South Africa Rugby and Hockey Tour and travelled in South Africa several times in recent years to watch them play .
Clive lived a happy and fulfilling life . He was well loved and respected by everyone who knew him and is dearly missed by family and friends . her community both as a leader and as a serving member on several town committees . She also became a councillor for local government . Following her death , the acknowledgement by the Parliament of Western Australia of her contribution to the electorate was testament to Rachel ’ s commitment to her community work .
Rachel died suddenly on 5 April 2021 whilst working on the farm .

Rachel Nightingale ( née Marsland , 94-95 ) joined her brothers Richard ( 86-96 ) and David ( 91-99 ) and sister Annie ( 93-00 ) at Pocklington School for her Sixth Form years in 1994 .
After leaving Pocklington she did an honours degree at Harper Adam ’ s university during which she spent a year on placement in Germany and France .
Upon finishing her degree , she started a full-time role as President of the Students Union , and it was during this time that she met Will Nightingale whom she later married .
Rachel and Will emigrated to a small country town called Wyalkatchem in Western Australia in 2003 .
Rachel had several different jobs over the years including working for Landmark , an agricultural merchandise company , and Bayer crop science as an area manager . Whilst working for Bayer , Rachel received the accolade of area manager of the year .
Rachel and Will bought some land to farm and over the years expanded the business by leasing and share farming .
Rachel and Will had two children , Harry and Lauren aged 14 and 12 . As a family they did everything together either on the farm or enjoying their many hobbies such as water-skiing and taking camping trips .

John Michael Norris ( 49-57 ) spent many happy years at Pocklington School where he had some sound career advice and , encouraged by Mike Stevenson , loved sport particularly cricket , gaining his Colours in 1956 and becoming 1st XI Vice Captain in his final year . He also enjoyed golf and tennis and took part in a number of societies including Drama Society , Music Society and Sixth Form Society .
After leaving Pocklington , he became a solicitor starting life in Bradford in the early 1960s with Clarry Nelson . He later joined what is now Lupton and Fawcett in Leeds . He married Angela and they settled first in Harrogate before moving to North Rigton in Leeds where he became Chairman of the Parish Council for many years before moving back to Harrogate . For a while he was Managing Partner and became the President of Leeds Law Society . Also , during his time in Leeds , he became the Chairman of Chapeltown Citizens Advice Bureau . Just before retiring as a solicitor he was appointed as a Recorder on the North East Circuit sitting as a part-time Crown Court Judge and he did immigration work in Bradford .
Throughout his working life he continued to enjoy golf and tennis in his spare time ; he became the Captain of Pannal Golf Club at a very young age and continued playing both sports after he retired . He also took up water colour painting in retirement and enjoyed staying in touch with the school and OPs , attending the biennial Dinosaur Club Luncheon in Wetherby in 2016 .

Michael Elliott Richardson ( 52-57 ), known as Mike , was born in Aurangabad , Maharashtra State , in India , on 29 September 1938 , to Emery Richardson , a missionary and vicar , and Margaret ( née Elliott ), a teacher and “ vicar ’ s wife ”, and had a sister , Ann .
Educated at Pocklington School , he threw himself in to the many activities on offer . As well as being Head Prefect and House Captain of Dolman , he was secretary to the History Society , the Drama Society and the Sixth Form Society , President of the Student Christian Movement and an editor of the school magazine . On the sporting front , he played rugby and was Captain of the 2nd XV achieving his colours in his final year . He also represented the school at tennis and shooting and was appointed Captain of the shooting team .
After Pocklington , he went into national service as an officer cadet in Cheshire . He studied theology at St John ’ s College , Cambridge , where , through his sister , he met Gillian Jones , who was at Girton College . They married in 1965 .
Mike joined the Open University in 1970 , and after 21 years he was appointed Pro-Vice-Chancellor . He was hugely humbled by the stories of people who sacrificed so much to continue their learning as adults . He was awarded an Honorary Doctorate by the OU in 1994 .
In 1990 he was appointed the Director of the Board of Extramural Studies at Cambridge ( now the Institute of Continuing Education ), a post he held until his retirement in 2003 . At Madingley Hall , Mike was instrumental in bringing the Continuing Education programme into a recognised credit framework , raising the status of Cambridge ’ s provision . He oversaw the completion of a major building programme to provide an enhanced offer for residential learners .
Mike was a highly regarded member of the wider academic community . He was a Fellow of Wolfson from 1991-2003 and Emeritus Fellow from retirement . He was Secretary of UALL ( formerly UACE – the Universities Association for Continuing Education ) from 1998 to 2002 , a time when there were many challenges facing the adult education sector .
