DONATIONS MADE IN MEMORY OF MALCOLM MILNE
As reported on page 20 , at the beginning of July a dedication ceremony was held to mark the installation of a new cricket scoreboard and plaque in memory of former pupil , teacher and Pixies Cricket Club stalwart Malcolm Milne ( 55-62 ). During
OP Committee member Simon Spence ( 74-81 ) originally suggested the idea , which received the full support of the OP Committee and of Malcolm ’ s widow Jill .
Simon said : ‘’ Like anyone else who was taught by Mally Milne ( as he was universally known !), I was struck by the fact that his enthusiasm for cricket was , if anything , even greater than his enthusiasm for geography ! It is entirely fitting , therefore , that his contribution to life at Pock has already been marked by the splendid new scoreboard . He was also a great believer in broadening the reach of a ‘ Pock ’ education as widely as possible and I am delighted that donations in his memory will go to the ‘ Shape the Future ’ campaign , which he was so instrumental in helping set up . I hope many OPs whose memories of him are as fond as mine will want to donate to it .’’
