My name is Kadeem Phillip. I am a self-taught artist, a spoken word poet, writer and creative hailing from Brooklyn, NY. Art has always been a part of my life since I was a child. I was first taught how to draw by my mother, Michelle at the tender age of 5. Later, practicing what is now my craft with my Uncle, Kevin. It was a way for me to express things I could never really put into words.
Writing and poetry are another methods of my expression. It was a way to express myself when I couldn't draw out what was going on in my mind. Breaking down the paintings with deeper meanings that couldn’t be expressed with just a canvas, I would turn into a poem and let the world hear my form of interpretation.
When I was 18, I decided that I wanted to go to college for business but after obtaining my bachelor’s degree, I realized that I did not want to spend the next 20 or 30 years of my life working for someone. I realized I wanted to create an impact. Leaving this world a little bit more creative then how I found it.....and honest that is what I plan to do.
